The Weary Sportsman Cumbrian hotel is ideally placed for visiting the Roman sites of Hadrian's wall. As well as magnificent walks along the wall route, there are fascinating insights into Roman life at the museums, forts and interpretation centres along its length.

Historic Carlisle is easy to reach too, with its imposing castle dominating the city's skyline, together with its unusual red sandstone cathedral. The market town of Brampton is just a few miles from our comfortable Cumbrian hotel, boasting a fine Pre-Raphaelite church in St Martin's, with its fantastic stained glass windows designed by Burne-Jones. All in all, our guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to interesting and action-packed day trips.
