Now, more people are shunning the starchiness of country house hotels in favour of an Inns informality and relaxed atmosphere. Recognising this trend, Ian and Gill who had been in tourism, running restaurants and hotels for many years realised there was a gap in the market, so they purchased The Weary Sportsman Inn, Castle Carrock, Nr Carlisle. We found that there was a general trend towards informality. More and more people wanted to eat flexibly and stay in quality accommodation without breaking the bank, says Ian.
